spam - can't ignore it any more

My email account got hijacked. In the past few days I received several dozens of emails about undelivered mail that I did not send. Apparently, someone is sending spam with my email as the return address. Luckily, this happened not with my main (work) address but with a hotmail account. Does anyone know what to do in this situation?
